I am contacting you on behalf of the Salford Business School, Management Development Programme, regarding a research project to assess training and development in market leading firms.

The aim of the Study is to develop a benchmarking tool that considers the integrity and quality of leadership development within large companies.

We are contacted a number of firms, including yourselves, who we believe to be in the ‘Fast Moving Consumer Goods Sector’ and this is a preliminary communication to see whether you would, in principle, be agreeable to participating in the Study.

We will present these organisations with a questionnaire the results of which will be feed into our ‘Leadership Development Tool’ to provide a detailed analysis of how the organisations compare with others in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods Sector’.

At this stage it is envisaged that the study will be a mixture of face-to-face sessions and email questionnaires and we would not anticipate that any individual participant should need to allocate more than approximately 1 hour to this exercise.

Participating companies will be given full access to our results which will present data anonymously but hopefully demonstrate how leadership development in their organisations compares to market averages.

We hope that you will be able to give favourable consideration to agreeing to participate in this academic study and hope that it will also be of benefit to the participants by providing them with information on leadership development in other market leaders in your field.
